The stainless steel plates sit flush against the leather, so it doesn’t feel bulky when I’m swinging a prop sword around. I’ve worn these at two ren fairs and they’ve held up through all the fake combat without a scratch.
The leather is sturdier than I expected for the price, and the stainless steel plates feel solidly riveted on. I wore them to a ren faire all day and they held up through every sword swing without shifting.
